Digital Inclusion in the Arab Region
The Arab Digital Inclusion Platform provides access to information on disability as it relates to the Arab region, including research and resources published by ESCWA and other regional and international organizations, laws and policies from the Arab region, toolkits to aid in the development and guidelines on e-Accessibility, and best practice cases from the Arab region on e-Accessibility.

Our guiding principles
The Arab Digital Inclusion Platform (ADIP) supports the fulfilment of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN CRPD), to which all ESCWA member States are signatories. The goal of the convention is to ensure that people with disabilities enjoy human rights and fundamental freedoms. ADIP supports this goal in providing information and templates that help in the development of policies, guidelines and initiatives in the Arab countries.
In the same context, ADIP contributes to the implementation of the UN Disability Inclusion Strategy, issued in April 2018, that represents a UN system policy, action plan and accountability framework to strengthen system-wide accessibility and mainstreaming of the rights of persons with disabilities. UNDIS will enable the UN system to support member States in their achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals and the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).
ADIP is also linked to the Beirut Consensus on Technology for Sustainable development in the Arab region and the 2030 Development Agenda. Based on these mandates, ESCWA is requested to continue to provide member countries with high quality advice and specific support on technology and innovation for sustainable development, with focus on the several fields, including the inclusion of youth, older persons and persons with disabilities in areas such as education, employment and access to public services, and promoting social well-being of all.
