Technical Guidelines for Digital Accessibility to Empower Older Persons
The world is witnessing a massive demographic shift characterized by an increase in the proportion of older persons. This trend that may continue until 2050, which will push most countries into a state of “population ageing”. The Arab region is also witnessing a significant increase in the number of older persons that will continue until 2050. This demographic shift in Arab countries is due to fertility, mortality and migration, in addition to systems that help prolong the life of the population, such as health, social and educational systems.
In this context, digital technology provides easy alternatives to government services and access to information for older persons and persons with disabilities, which enhances their capabilities and contributes to preserving their independence and dignity. The present document provides a set of technical guidelines for digital accessibility to empower older persons, with a focus on providing digital services and websites in a way that ensures inclusiveness and equality.
