A. Chapter Objectives

1. To identify working methods and advocacy tools to promote the right to independent living.
2. To identify how to make effective use of international cooperation programmes in order to advocate for the rights of persons with disabilities in the field of deinstitutionalization and the promotion of independent living.
3. To identify how to make effective use of shadow, parallel and alternative reporting to the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the complaints mechanism under the Optional Protocol to the Convention in order to reduce institutionalization and promote independent living.
